Trumpeter/composer/bandleader Christian Scott was born in New Orleans, but his particular brand of jazz stretches beyond traditional jazz and decades ahead of be-bop for a refreshing and artistically-driven modern sound. Like Miles Davis, Scott began as a bop player, but later embraced the use of silence and electronics in his playing. His latest and second release Anthem tells a story of pain, anguish and reconstruction from Hurricane Katrina and its destruction on his hometown. Hear Christian Scott live from Studio 1B with bassist Joe Sanders and guitarist Matt Stevens.
