Singer, songwriter and guitarist John Butler was born in California but grew up as a teenager in Western Australia, where he acquired his grandfather’s 1930’s dobro and experimented with open tunings and a gumbo of musical influences from blues and reggae to Celtic folk and Indian ragas. From gaining large crowds at early Fremantle market shows to watching his fan base grow considerably since releasing his self-titled debut a decade ago, Butler continues to thrive with his own brand of jam-based music for the human spirit.
