Two Tons of Steel
“Baby You Got Me”
Texas band Two Tons of Steel might be described as equal parts Elvis Presley and Elvis Costello, with a liberal dose of Buddy Holly and a dollop of The Ramones. It’s a one-of-a-kind sound that bandleader and frontman Kevin Geil likes to call “countrybilly.” They brought their unique sound to Eklektikos on December 21, 2006.

Eliza Gilkyson
“The Party’s Over”
The daughter of successful songwriter Terry Gilkyson, Eliza Gilkyson is a third-generation musician now living in Austin. Paradise Hotel is her most recent CD. She lit up Studio 1A on January 5, 2007.

Lura
“Mundo y Nos”
Born in Lisbon and hailing from Cape Verde off the coast of West Africa, Lura mixes rhythms of her native land with soul, jazz, and R & B. She performed live in Studio 1A on November 28, 2006.

Blue Cartoon
“Just A Little More”
This Austin band formed in the early 1990s. Members include Lee Elliott, David Loren, Barry Simon, Jeff Tracy, and Alan Vassberg. Blue Cartoon’s newest album is September Songs. They rocked our studio on January 18, 2007.

Brent Palmer
“Street Pilot”
Born in Port Neches, Texas, Brent was raised in Houston. He’s now pursuing a music career in Austin, blending driving guitars, plaintive vocals and bittersweet lyrics into his own brand of folk-pop. He visited Studio 1A with Jay Trachtenberg on January 09, 2007.
