strings, haunting vocals, and striking lyrical ability.
Money Mark @ 10:00 a.m.
Born Mark Ramos Nashita, keyboardist Money Mark earned a reputation as the “fourth
Beastie Boy” for the work he did on the group’s earlier albums. He’s now flying
solo, making chill, retro-flavored pop with hints of jazz, funk, and soul. Hear
Money Mark live on KUT, then catch him at KUT’s
showcase Saturday at 9:00 p.m.
Alexi Murdoch @ 11:30 a.m.
Growing up in Scotland, the U.K. folk sound had a clear influence on the music
of Alexi Murdoch. After moving to Los Angeles in the ‘90s, sounds of lo-fi indie
rock crept into his songs. Sentimental and meaningful, his voice and music have
a resonant, beautifully haunting quality. Hear Alexi Murdoch live in the KUT
studios, then see him at the KUT’s
showcase Saturday night at 11:00.
