About the Show

Good music is good music, whether it comes from a Stradivarius, a Telecaster, or a clothesline tied to a washtub. Duke Ellington was fond of saying “no boxes” when asked to classify his work, and it’s a motto taken to heart at Left of the Dial, a lively and fevered soundtrack to kick off your weekend. Since 1997, host Jeff McCord has been spinning all kinds of music during his Friday night shift, along with occasional surprise guests.

Ever fall in love with a song you shouldn’t have fallen in love with? If you’ve got a guilty pleasure, a piece of music you’re kind of ashamed to admit that you really love, share it by emailing Jeff. Every few weeks, Jeff chooses a new Guilty Pleasure to play, and yours could be the one. If you’re really embarrassed, keep in mind he started the series with an ELO song! As always, the level of pain Jeff is willing to endure (and inflict) is ultimately up to him.
