About the Show

Saturday nights flow into the wee hours of Sunday, which is a great time to lay back and let the radio be your jukebox.

You’ll find a lot of funk and soul amidst a sea of rock, country, jazz, and an occasional lounge tune or a lost treasure from the past.

Music Geeks welcome!

About Our Host

Rick McNulty
In Austin since: 1996

Favorite thing(s) about Austin: Its tempo, which is to say laid back.

Work/on-air history:
I've been involved with community/public radio since I was in high school, which continued through college and afterwards. I thought I'd left that part behind me when I moved to Austin, but it was not to be.

A few of my key artists:
What I'm listening to lately: Amy Winehouse, Darondo, Aggrolites, Cannonball Adderley, Calypso King, Funkadelic, and Miles' On The Corner Sessions.

I'm telling all my friends about:
The new Sly Stone remasters, which sound much improved, not to mention the outtakes, alternate mixes, and lovely packaging.

I've also been deep sea fishing into Pepperland. I've listened to roughly ten different remixes of "A Day In The Life" while reading Geoff Emerick's excellent account of the sessions. I cannot stop playing the mono version of Pepper, either. I've gone so far as to assemble side one in its original order. I really need another hobby...

Top 5 favorite or influential records:
Introducing The Beatles
CCR - Cosmo's Factory
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
Sly & The Family Stone - Stand!
Steely Dan - Can't Buy A Thrill
Aretha - I Never Loved a Man...
