On the Air, Perry Looks to Lure California Businesses to Texas

Filipa Rodrigues, KUT News

Governor Rick Perry has made a habit of saying businesses from other states would be better off in Texas. Now, he’s bringing that message to the airwaves in California.

Governor Perry is courting Golden State companies with a 30 second radio spot that will run for the next week on stations in 5 cities – including San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. His message, as always, focuses on the low-tax, low-regulation climate in Texas.

"Building a business is tough, but I hear building a business in California is next to impossible," Perry says in the ad. "This is Texas Governor Rick Perry and I have a message for California businesses: Come check out Texas."

There’s even a business recruitment website called Texas Wide Open for Business with info on how to start your move to Texas.

The ad comes a couple weeks after State Attorney General Greg Abbott placed an ad recruiting “law abiding New York gun owners” to consider moving to Texas.
