Austin Police Commander Fired For Choking Sex Partner, Concealing Evidence

A commander with the Austin Police Department was indefinitely suspended Thursday – essentially fired – after an investigation into allegations that he assaulted a woman he met on Tinder.

The woman contacted police in August to report that Jason Dusterhoft had become increasingly violent during sex.

An investigation determined Dusterhoft committed aggravated assault, was dishonest during an internal affairs investigation, concealed evidence and engaged in acts "bringing discredit upon the department."

A 17-page memofrom Police Chief Brian Manley describes Dusterhoft choking the woman and associating with people, including an alleged prostitute, who were buying and doing illegal drugs.

Dusterhoft said the "rough sex" was consensual. His attorney said he will appeal.
