Gov. Perry, Speaker Straus and Lt. Gov. Dewhurst stay on "No New Taxes" message

Governor Rick Perry, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst and House Speaker Joe Straus held their 1st weekly breakfast of the 2011 legislative session today.  After the meal (which included eggs, according to Speaker Straus) they met with the Capitol press corps to say basically the same thing they've been saying for the last years:  The state will balance the budget without any revenue increases.

The governor also defended his statements yesterday on eliminating so called sanctuary cities in Texas.  Mr. Perry hammered the city of Houston during his re-election campaign for being a refuge for undocumented immigrants.  Even though the city's mayor says it is not.

Members of the press corps tried to get the governor to expand on his abolishment idea.  But he would neither name which cities he thought were sanctuary cities nor would he explain what the bill would look like.
