Interview: Improving Mental Health Care for Austin's Minority Communities

Mental illness can be hard to acknowledge or talk about. Two Austinites who are educators and advocates with the National Alliance on Mental Illness want to help people get past that. And they’re focusing on the African American community.

KUT’s Jennifer Stayton recently talked with Charnell Nunley and Le’Detrick Leonard, who goes by just “Leonard.” They’re on a quest to get people comfortable talking about what can be an awkward topic and to improve mental health care for African Americans. They started by sharing their own stories. Here’s Leonard:
