Occupy Austin protesters marched from the State Capitol to the UT-Austin campus and back against bank bailouts and tuition increases.

Although some larger cities have cleared Occupy protesters out of public spaces, people with Occupy Austin say they are trying to expand. Some Occupiers at a march and rally Saturday told KUT News they are planning on having daily protests at the south steps of the State Capitol.

Occupy Austin continues to take place in the city plaza at City Hall.

Saturday, Occupy Austin demonstrators slowed traffic for a short time, as they marched on Guadalupe Street to protest bank bailouts. The march ended at the State Capitol. Debbie Staat is a nurse who participated.

“Most of the healthcare for this country is owned by corporations and I see the way its run and the bottom line comes before the health of the patients," she said.

The march was held near the UT-Austin campus to shows solidarity with Occupy UT protestors. Wednesday, members of that movement attended a public hearing on campus on possible tuition increases. University President William Powers is expected to make a decision on tuition recommendations this coming week.
