With rain blanketing much of Austin, and reports of hail in the area, the city is getting inundated in the wet stuff. But is it enough to impact the Texas drought?
A visit to the U.S. Drought Monitor website shows Texas solidly in the red. And while Austin may receive up to two inches of rain, the Lower Colorado River Authority reports Lake Travis is still over 40 feet below its historic January average.
With the Austin-American Statesmanprojecting most of the rain to blow out by Wednesday evening, the storms may cramp your commute, but they won't do much to alleviate the state’s dry spell.
