Recall: Whole Foods Salmon

Whole Foods

Whole Foods is recalling two lots of Whole Catch Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon because it may be contaminated with Listeria—a bacteria that can lead to fatal infections in young children, elderly people and people with weakened immune systems.

The second lot, with code 7425A2297A printed on the back of the package, on the upper left side, was sold in Texas stores.

Although there are no reports of illness, samples from both lots of salmon tested positive for Listeria by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Symptoms caused by a Listeria infection can include a high fever, headaches or nausea. It can also lead to miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The Whole Foods Chain is advising costumers who purchased this product to dispose of it in the garbage and to wash their hands immediately to avoid any potential cross-contamination.

Whole Foods will give full refunds at the store. If you have questions, call (512) 477-5566, ext. 20060.
