On this edition of In Black America, producer/host John L. Hanson Jr. revisits an interview with the honorable George T. ‘Mickey’ Leland, congressman from the 18th District of Texas, and he served twice as chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Leland, who died in 1989, was committed to ending hunger in the U.S. and abroad. He served three terms in the Texas House of Representatives, representing the 88th District. In November 1978, he was elected to Congress to represent Texas’ 18th District. He was re-elected five-times, serving until his death.
