See 'Women Painting Women' in Georgetown

Jun 15, 2015

The website Women Painting Women was launched several years ago by artists Alia El-Bermani, Diane Feissel and Sadie Valeri. The mission of the site was (and remains) fairly simple: to create an online space for female artists to share works which feature women as subject matter.

In 2010, the first real-world Women Painting Women exhibit was held in Charleston, South Carolina. In the years since, several more shows have been held in the US and abroad, and now, there's a Women Painting Women exhibit on display just north of Austin at the Georgetown Art Center.

In an unsurprising move for an event held in Texas, this version of the Women Painting Women exhibit exclusively features the works of Texas-based artists. Women Painting Women: Texas will showcase the works of 14 contemporary artists, presenting 36 works which all feature women as artist and subject matter.

Women Painting Women: Texas is on display at the Georgetown Art Center through July 5.
