Travis County Clerk Reports Minor Voting Problems

Voting started at 7 a.m. today in Travis County.   The County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir, who oversees elections, said there were a couple of problems early with some precincts.

"We had one person who did sleep late, the person who was supposed to open the doors out at Dove Springs," DeBeauvoir told KUT News.  "Then way up north in Pflugerville, they had trouble with a power cord, and so we took them a new power cord.  It's all been one or two little problems that were very routine and quickly solved, so in other words, it's going terrific."

DeBeauvoir said this election year saw a 25 percent increase in early voting turnout. About 123,000 voters turned out to vote early. DeBeauvoir says she expects about that many for Election Day today.
