Travis County's Republican Party is organizing buses to take people to "The Response" next month at Houston's Reliant Stadium.

The Travis County Republicans announced they would provide buses to next month's prayer and fasting meeting at Houston's Reliant Stadium, The Response,  on a first come, first served basis today.

The meeting, hosted by Gov. Rick Perry, is set for Saturday, August 6 in Houston. It is sponsored, at Perry’s request, by the American Family Association. It will also include an optional fast period, though county GOP officials say in a press release that they recommend bringing a sack lunch on the bus, because food at the event will be limited.

The buses will head to Houston at 5:00 a.m. The trip schedules time for what that local party leaders say will be “praying, praising and petitioning God for his blessing on America.” It will also include a “Lord’s Breakfast” with bread and water led by a host pastor.

A spot on the bus costs $50 for singles and $90 per couple. Currently, the group has seven buses with room for 56 people on each, but they're trying to reserve at least two more.

The prayer event and who comes out for or against it could have significant implications for the governor in the national arena, should he choose to run for president. Tune in to KUT and Texas  Tribune's latest Tribcast for more discussion.
