The White House Partners with SXSW to Bring a One-Day Festival to the South Lawn

President Barack Obama spoke about civic engagement in a digital age at Austin's South by Southwest on March 11, 2016.

Inspired after a visit to Austin’s South by Southwest Festival in March, President Barack Obama and White House staff are creating their own version – South by South Lawn.

The event will be Oct. 3, according to a post on the White House's official website, and will "bring together creators, innovators, and organizers who work day in and day out to improve the lives of their fellow Americans and people around the world."

The one-day fest will be comprised of three parts: interactive, music and film – which may sound familiar to regulars to the annual Austin festival.

The White House is coordinating with C3 Presents and others to organize South by South Lawn. It's also taking nominations now for folks that you think should be included in the lineup. Know somebody you think would be a good fit for the festival? You can head over to the White House's site to nominate yourself or somebody you know to attend.
