Workers and volunteers at the Austin Humane Society will spend the night at the shelter to honor all of the animals that will be homeless during the holidays. The 5th annual sleep over starts tonight at 7 with a visit from Santa. After the jolly fat guy poses for pictures with the shelter pets, the dogs will be allowed to run around an indoor dog park. While all cats will be allowed to roam around the shelter as well. Shelter staff and volunteers will spend the night all around the shelter, including dog kennels, cat rooms and play areas.
The night kicks off the shelter's "Home for the Holidays" pet adoption campaign. And what Christmas event would be complete without a take-off on Twas the Night Before Christmas.
Twas the week before Christmas at Austin Human Lots of barking and mewing on Anderson Lane Homeless doggies and kitties were all waiting there In hopes of a new friend with a home to share They waited while nestled and snug in their beds While visions of their new life danced in their heads.
