The calm before the storm: 6th Street is bracing for Mardi Gras revelers tonight.

It's Mardi Gras.  And that means downtown Austin will be filled with revelers celebrating the end of the pre-Lenten period and otherwise getting indulgence out of their system before the Christian observance of Ash Wednesday.

Where there are partiers in downtown Austin, there will also be Austin police and a batch of street closures.  Here's a map of what will be closed tonight.  APD will also be enforcing a no-refusal DWI enforcement period tonight.  During Saturday's no refusal period, police obtained 10 search warrants to draw blood on suspected DWI drivers.
