Austin's gas prices are exactly a dollar a gallon higher than this date last year

A year ago today, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Austin was just under $2.71, according to the AAA "Fuel Gauge Survey." Today, it's exactly a dollar a gallon higher.

Diesel's even worse, now averaging $4.01.  That's also a dollar a gallon higher than April 25, 2010.

But even at $3.71 a gallon, Central Texas is still running lower than the statewide average for gas.  That sits at $3.76 a gallon, and it's higher than that in the state's two biggest metropolitan areas.

There's still a little ways to go before we get into record territory.  Austin's record price for regular unleaded is $3.98 a gallon, set in July 2008
