Perry Points Finger at Obama for Ending Era

Governor Rick Perry criticized President Obama over the cost-saving decision to end the space shuttle era Thursday. He accuses the Obama Administration for  “leaving American astronauts with no alternative but to hitchhike into space.” NASA is set to have astronaut expeditions to an asteroid by 2025 and later to Mars. Perry said in a statement yesterday that President Obama is leading federal agencies astray through his  plans.

Poultry Giant Recalls Two Products

Pilgrim Pride Corporation is recalling Sweet Georgia brand fully-cooked breaded white chicken patties. It could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria linked to food poisoning. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service calls this a "class one" recall, where there is a reasonable chance that the use of the product will cause serious health consequences or death.  The corporation is also recalling fully-cooked grilled chicken breast fillets with rib meat. The products were distributed to Texas, Ohio and New Jersey.

Gas Prices Still Creep Up

If you’re planning on hitting the road this weekend, know that gas prices are still going up. In their Fuel Gauge Report, AAA-Texassays the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $3.59 in the Austin area. That’s 16 cents more than two weeks ago. Across Texas, the average prices for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.62.
