East Austin Farmers Market Gets More Visibility in New Location

HOPE Farmers Market is hoping to become a more central part of the East Austin Community.

It's holding a Grand Opening on Sunday at it's new location—at Plaza Saltillo on East 5th Street and Comal Street.

For the past three years or so, the farmers market has been at Pine Street Station. Organizers say they believe their new spot will give them more visibility and help make the farmers market a more integral part of the community.

"We're excited about the move to Plaza Saltillo because it's a larger and more open space where we can truly welcome the community to come and be a part of the Market. The Plaza is beautiful, inviting and accessible, plus there's a great covered stage for our live music program and built-in shelter for vendors. Most importantly, the Plaza will now be open for anyone in the community to rent, activating a space that has been underutilized for years," Lizzie Garrett HOPE Farmers Market Development Director said.

The HOPE Farmers Market is Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
