It’s time for another edition of KUT’s Summer School.
Every Friday this summer, we head out to learn new skills from folks in Austin who are experts in their field. We’ve already learned about glass blowing, wood turning and beekeeping. Today’s subject? Medieval Studies.
"So many people grew up with Robin Hood, King Arthur, Camelot," says the Society for Creative Anachronism's Kelly Hatcher. The society keeps a focus on history. Members practice medieval crafts: weaving clothing, brewing their own mead – and of course – studying sword fighting.
"Everybody’s got this medieval story in the back of their head. So… some people want to go out and do it!" Hatcher says.
Our Mose Buchele spent a night with the society, becoming Lord Lleyllen Pembrook in seven easy steps. Listen to his report and watch the video for more.
