Come November the Austin City Council is going to look a bit different. The council will expand from six at-large-elected members to 10 members elected by citizens within their district — plus the mayor, naturally. In anticipation of the change, the city is revamping the council's dais.
Crews at City Hall began that transformation today by ripping out the old dais and will construct a new dais with room for the additional members. The renovations throughout City Hall will continue through September. Until construction is completed, the council's meetings will be held in the Travis County Commissioner's Court's chambers, starting Aug. 8.
