If you like seeing the wildflowers around Central Texas this spring, get ready for a bigger finish for the season.
At the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, they say there’s been a slow start, but could be late peak. Cooler weather has delayed the peak of some blooms and it looks like a good late season for flowers that need less rain.
Wildflower Center Director of Horticulture Andrea DeLong-Amaya says she’s seen flowers benefiting from the rain we had just a week ago and looks forward to the effects of rainfall we could get tonight.
“I think the rain, if we get some good rain tonight, that would be fabulous and it would extend the bloom periods and maybe kick some of the stuff into gear that hasn’t really gotten going yet,” DeLong-Amaya said.
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center has information on the best places to see wildflowers available at its website, wildflower.org.
One of the places in Austin to see wildflowers right now is along MoPac – one of the few benefits to being stuck in traffic.
