Austin may be getting a break from the triple-digit heat – in the form of storm clouds.
It’s tough for cold fronts to make it this far south in the summer, but one has made it down far enough to affect conditions in Central Texas. National Weather Service forecaster Aaron Treadway says it includes a real rain chance.
“We’re actually going to get a good 30 to 40 percent chance of rain for the Austin area today through Friday and with the showers come cloud cover and thanks to those, we get the lower temperatures in the mid to upper 90s.”
The weather service predicts some of those storms could produce heavy rain and wind gusts up to 50 mph – but any storms are expected to come to an end tonight. NWS’ storm prediction center is keeping an eye on what the weather cell could mean for Central Texas.
