Andy Rooney's Papers In Austin

Long-time CBS commentator and essayist Andy Rooney died Friday in New York from complications after a recent surgery. But his opinions and character will live on through his papers archived at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History at UT-Austin.

His distinct voice and conclusions kept audiences tuned through the end of CBS’ 60 Minutes news magazine shows every Sunday night.

Andy Rooney was 93. Just last month he made his last appearance on the show.

Many of his essay scripts for 60 Minutes are archived at the Dolph Briscoe Center. Even his early journalistic work as a Europe correspondent for the U.S. Army’s Stars and Stripes newspaper from 1942 to 1945 has been collected and stored.
