April is National Poetry Month, a time when we celebrate poetry and recognize how it has shaped American culture. This year, KUT is participating in National Poetry Month by sharing poems written by students in the Blank Page creative writing programs at Kealing and Fulmore Middle Schools and the Writers' Workshop at Rawson Saunders School. You can read the and listen to the poems here, and you can also listen to the poems read on KUT 90.5 FM throughout the month of April.

The Inviso-Spell

Ingredients:

Dash of nutmeg,

Clip of unicorn hair,

An inch of slimy toad skin (the best you can find)

Squirt of pickle juice,

Sprinkle of ghost pepper,

Packet of M&Ms (plain)

And fresh, juicy ghost saliva.

Procedure:

Drop all ingredients into a cauldron,

And turn up the heat to 7,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

Stir, stir, and stir until potion is brewing,

Let it set half an hour

Until it’s glowing with color,

You might notice it’s starting to feel like dough,

But don’t worry, it’s supposed to.

Divide into twelve round cookies

And place all on a baking sheet.

One cookie equals one spell,

So, when you gobble one up,

you’ll turn invisible.

POOF,

And then you’ll thank this brew.
