Join an impromptu Hot Topics conversation as Daily Buzz producer, Irene Cho befriends two international journalists, France's Emmanuelle Spadacenta (Cinemateaser) and Spain's Alberto Villarino (El Antepenultimo Mohicano) while waiting in line at the JW Marriott Theater Croisette at the international premiere of DOPE. DOPE, a coming of age comedy/drama for the hip hop generation, directed by Rick Famuyiwa debuted earlier this year at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and screened in the Directors Fortnight (Quinzaine) section of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. Incidentally, both SONGS MY BROTHER TAUGHT ME (see Episode 12) and DOPE were produced by LA based production company, SIGNIFICANT PRODUCTIONS which is run by producer, Nina Yang Bongiovi and her partner, Academy Award Winner, Forrest Whitaker. These two European journalists discuss the highs and lows of this year's festival, gives us insights about this year's competition compared to previous years, and share how Cannes ranks amongst other festivals around the world. Oh yeah, and why they're in line to see DOPE.
