Each month we spotlight a local nonprofit that's in need of help. It's a way to connect our listeners with charities that make an impact.

Get Involved Spotlight: Farmshare Austin

From Farmshare Austin, this month's Get Involved spotlight organization: Farmshare Austin is a 501c3 that teaches organic agriculture and provides fresh produce to partnering nonprofits that alleviate hunger and supply nutritious food to low income individuals.

We envision a future of resilient local food economies that provide farmers with livable incomes, value the resources needed to farm, and ensure organic food access. We achieve this vision by operating an intensive educational program, Farmer Starter, for aspiring farmers on our residential farm in eastern Travis County.

Volunteers work alongside students and staff on our educational farm in the fields, washing and packing produce, and making deliveries. More information about our programs and volunteer opportunities are available at http://farmshareaustin.org
