Happy 4th of July everyone. Now please, no fireworks.

I know most people are home enjoying the day. But hey, just because you're not at work doesn't mean you're not interested in news being made around Texas.

Making Your Own Power

Well no fireworks today. But we still have plenty of sun and wind, which has lead to an increase in the number of solar panels and wind turbines going up in the suburbs. The Austin American-Statesman has a story up today on the alternative energy sources being used and their increasing popularity.

Who's Next if Lt. Governor Runs for Higher Office

Our friends over at the Texas Tribune have a story up today looking at who could be running for Lt. Governorif current office holder David Dewhurst runs for U.S. Senate or Governor. Moves by Governor Perry (to run for President) and Dewhurst will set of a pretty impressive domino effect for offices up and down the ballot.

FOX News Gets Hacked, Tweets False Report on Presidential Assassination

The Associated Press is reporting that hackers got into FOX's Twitter account early this morning and sent out a series of messages from it's political Twitter feed that President Obama had been shot and killed in Iowa.

Here's an example of one of the hacked tweets:

foxnewspolitics foxnewspolitics    @BarackObama just passed. Nearly 45 minutes ago, he was shot twice in the lower pelvic area and in the neck; shooter unknown. Bled out

The Fox political Twitter account has about 36,000 followers. FOX News says there will be a full investigation into the hack.
