You have just hours left to vote early in the Texas Primaries.
Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir says so far turnout has been disappointing. She believes it’s because the election coincides with prom season, graduations and the beginning of summer vacation.
When the polls opened this morning, just 4.6 percent of registered Travis County voters had cast a ballot.
Election Day is Tuesday. DeBeauvoir thinks the holiday weekend could also keep voters away from the polls.“With all of the happy events going on in peoples’ lives, I think it’s going to be difficult to get peoples’ attention on this particular Election Day. And if people haven’t already voted, I fear Election Day may not see the swell of voters that we would normally hope for," said DeBeauvoir.
You can vote at any polling station today. But on Election Day, you’ll have vote in your assigned precinct (Click here to find your precinct number). There’s a good chance that precinct has changed in recent months because of state redistricting.
Most of the polls close at 6 tonight. The location at the County Clerk's office at 5501 Airport Blvd. is open until 7 p.m.
