“YOUnify and Celebrate” is the tagline for this year’s Austin PRIDE day—an opportunity to support and connect the area’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community.
Events include a parade and a festival that features what organizers call an unparalleled lineup of live music acts.
The Austin PRIDE celebration is in its 21st year. Austin PRIDE President Paul Huddleston says the festival keeps getting bigger and that they’ve sold tickets to people from 28 states and 8 countries.
“The festival is for everyone. We’ve got activities and attractions for kids all the way up to the adults," Huddleston says.Here's more information on some official PRIDE events on Saturday, September 22:
Austin PRIDE Festival: Featuring special guests: Peaches, Nicky Da B, Stacey Q, and many more! Benefiting AIDS Services of Austin, Out Youth, TENT, and Equality Texas. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Fiesta Gardens, 2100 Jesse E. Segovia St. $20 (cash only).
Austin PRIDE Parade: The biggest event of Austin Pride and this year the parade has a new route. 8 p.m. Texas Capitol, 1100 Congress.
