White Denim performs at Utopia Fest in 2016.

The staff at our sister station KUTX scour the earth to bring listeners the best music. Each Friday, they share three of their favorite songs on Morning Edition.

"Knockin' On Your Screen Door" by John Prine

First up, John Prine from his new album The Tree Of Forgiveness. This is Prine's first album of all-new material in 13 years. He'll be in Austin for a couple of nights next month: June 5 for an ACL taping and June 30 at Bass Concert Hall. Here's "Knockin' On Your Screen Door."

"This Is America" by Childish Gambino

Next, a song that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100. It's an explicitly political song from Childish Gambino, whom you may know as the actor Donald Glover. "This Is America" got a lot of attention from its video, as well as Glover's recent hosting stint on Saturday Night Live.

"Magazin" by White Denim

Finally, a song from Austin's White Denim, or I should say White Denim 2.0, since they've undergone some personnel changes in the past few years. But this new lineup really comes into its own on "Magazin," from the forthcoming Performance, White Denim's eighth album.
