Blue Bell Cookie Dough Recall Expanded to Texas

Blue Bell Ice Cream

Brenham-based Blue Bell Ice Cream is expanding a recall of its products that include cookie dough from a third-party supplier, over concerns that the cookie dough could be contaminated with Listeria.

That's the same bacteria that shut Blue Bell down for months last year. It can cause serious, even fatal, infections in young children, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems.

So far, no illnesses have been reported, according to a statement put out by Blue Bell Monday evening.

This recall includes the following products in half gallons and pints, Blue Bell Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Blue Bell Cookie Two Step sold to retail outlets, and three gallon flavors sold to food service accounts including Blue Bell Blue Monster, Blue Bell Chocolate Chip Cookie, and Blue Bell Krazy Kookie Dough.  These products were produced from February 2, 2016 through September 7, 2016.

The recall was initially announced last month, but Blue Bell expanded the products under recall Monday. The suspect products were sold in Texas, along with Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

If you have any of the recalled products, you should return it to the store where you bought it for a refund.
