Five news organizations host series of Austin City Council candidate forums

AUSTIN, Texas — Aug. 27 2014 — Five Austin news organizations are hosting a series of candidate forums for the 10 Austin City Council districts and the mayoral race.

“The Austin Chronicle,” “The Austin Monitor,” KUT News, KXAN-TV (NBC affiliate) and Univision are collaborating to host “Ballot Boxing,” a series of in-district Austin City Council candidate debates as a prelude to the city’s geographically-dependent-City Council elections.

The series will include audience participation and, in some cases, live web streaming.

The inclusive nature of the events, the wide broadcast of the discussion and the balance of organizations putting them together will add to the dialogue around the most one of the most significant political changes in the city’s recent history.

All forums begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP at The Hall Monitor.
