Hot, Windy, and Dry Through the Labor Day Weekend

KUT

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for just about all of Central Texas from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Sunday. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for our area on Monday from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

The weekend has been pleasant. It's been breezy and not as hot. So what do these warnings and watches mean?

The Red Flag Warning for Sunday means any fire that develops outside is likely to spread quickly because of the wind, low humidity, and dry conditions.  The National Weather Service reminds people not to use open flames or do any other outdoor activities that might generate sparks.  Just about all of Central Texas is still under a burn ban, including Travis County.

TheFire Weather Watch for Monday means the winds will continue and critical fire weather conditions are forecast for the day.

Any relief in the forecast? Not for awhile. Click here for YNN's extended forecast.
