KUTX 98.9 Named 'Best Radio Station' In Annual Readers’ Poll For Fifth Year

Feb 28, 2019

AUSTIN, Texas – Feb. 28, 2019 – Once again, Central Texans have voted KUTX 98.9, the Austin Music Experience, “Best Radio Station” in the Austin Chronicle’s annual Austin Music poll.

This is the fifth time KUTX 98.9 has been named “Best Radio Station” in the annual readers’ poll since the station launched six years ago.

“It is very gratifying and humbling to know that our work on behalf of the Austin music scene is resonating with so many,” said Matt Reilly, KUTX program director. “Only in Austin – and only through the support of listeners and members – could a group of music nerds be given the keys to a radio station and take these kind of risks. Thank you!”

The awards were announced at the fifth annual Austin Music Industry Awards (Feb. 17), celebrating the behind-the-scenes talent in the record stores, instrument shops, recording studios and the press.

Denberg hosts music from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from noon to 4 p.m. Fridays. He hosts and co-produces the KUTX “Ones to Watch” series profiling artists poised to break out during SXSW.

Gallardo was named “Best Radio Personality” by Austin Chronicle readers for the third consecutive year. She hosts music from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday on KUTX 98.9. She also produces the Austin Music Minute, which shines the spotlight on live music shows around town six days a week.
