Historical Club Burns Down

Club 21, eleven miles northeast of San Marcos on Texas 21, was set on fire after a car crash Sunday. The Club’s site claims it was the oldest continually operating country dance hall in Texas. The Austin American-Statesman reports the owner says the club in Uhland won’t be rebuilt.

Small Fire at Bowie, School is Open Today

The Austin Fire Department said there was a small fire at Bowie High School around 5 a.m. A fire official told KUT the fire was in an outdoor storage pod. The fire was put out quickly but is still under investigation. The incident did not affect classes as Bowie is open for school today.

Perry 50, White 40

Governor Rick Perry is leading challenger Bill White by 10 points, 50 to 40 percent. That’s according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll. Keep in mind the poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.47 percent. Take a closer look at the numbers for the governor’s race and other statewide races here.

Texas Football Slump Continues

The Texas Longhorn football team is out of the rankings again after losing to Iowa State 21-28 Saturday.

The Horns will face the Baylor Bears Saturday. The Bears are ranked number 25 in the latest AP Poll. This is the first time they’ve been ranked since 1993.
