As Rain Falls, Some Low Water Crossings Closed; Flood Advisory In Effect

National Weather Service

Update (9:47am): The National Weather Service says there's now a flood advisory in effect until 11am for several counties in the Austin area.

Update (9:06 a.m.): The National Weather Service has ended the flood advisory it issued earlier this morning for parts of Central Texas.

Low water crossings continue to close in the Austin Area.

Update (8:56 a.m.):  The National Weather Service has extended its flood advisory until 10 a.m. for Central Texas counties.

Heavy rain has continued to close parts of Austin roadways, and 22 low water crossings have now been blocked off in the area.

Earlier: Rain continues to pound the Austin area this morning, forcing the closure of seven low water crossings in the Austin area.

The National Weather Service has also issued a flood advisory until 9 a.m. for several counties in Central Texas, including Travis, Williamson and Hays counties, and the service anticipates rainfall to be anywhere from one quarter to three quarters of an inch this morning. The majority of the rain is expected to fall this morning, so officials urge caution during morning commutes.

Crossings have been blocked off in Cedar Park, including sections of the 2400-blocks of Sumac Lane, Cypress Lane and Peach Tree Lane. Parts of County Road 175 and County Road 177 have been closed in Williamson County, while a section of Railroad Street north of San Marcos is also closed.
