Update (10:15 p.m.): The National Weather service has now placed Travis and Williamson counties under a flash flood warning until midnight tonight. A flash flood warning means flash flooding is occurring or imminent in the warning area.
Earlier: The National Weather Service has extended a flash flood warningfor Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties until 10:15 p.m. Heavy rain has continued this evening. Parts of the Austin area have already received between two and five inches of rain today. The City of Austin is also keeping an eye on Onion Creek's water levels. It was the scene of devastating floods a little over one year ago.
A flash flood watchis also in effect for just about all of Central Texas until midnight tonight. A flash flood watch means flash flooding is possible in the watch area.
Several low water crossings remain closed in and around the Austin area.
This weekend will not be a total washout. The National Weather Service's Sunday forecast is calling for sunny skies and a high of 77 degrees.
