Perry Picks Up Debate Pieces
Wednesday's "Oops" debate in Michigan was big on "Saturday Night Live" last night. But Texas Governor Rick Perry scored a few points in last night's Republican presidential debate on foreign policy and national security in South Carolina. The biggest traction point for Perry came on the question of foreign aid, where the governor suggested all assistance to other nations starts at $0. Perry also clashed with fellow Texan Ron Paul over the question of interrogation techniques. KUT's Ben Philpott was at Wofford Collegefor the latest tilt between the GOP presidential hopefuls.
F1's Ecclestone Casts Doubt on Austin Race
Stateman.com reports this morning that U.S. Formula One Grand Prix race organizers in Austin pledge next year's international car race will happen. That comes in the wake of assertions made by F1 President Bernie Ecclestone, who claims a split in the team bringing Formula One racing to Austin could scuttle the Grand Prixevent scheduled for November 2012.
Long Day for Longhorns
The Texas Longhorns march toward the end of the 2011 college football season hit a big pothole in Columbia, Missouri yesterday. The 'Horns, ranked 16th in the Bowl Championship Series and 21st in the AP College Football Poll, put up 52 points on Texas Tech last week. Yesterday, against Missouri, they could only muster a field goal and a safety in a 17-5 lossto the Tigers. Texas plays its final home game of the season this coming Saturday, hosting Kansas State.
