Texans Urged to Update Income Information on Obamacare Website

Starting next week, people can once again start enrolling for health insurance on the federal marketplace. Consumers should expect a number of differences when they go on healthcare.gov this time.

This enrollment period, consumers in Texas have more plans and more insurance companies to choose from via the federal health insurance marketplace. A Travis County resident, for example, can consider nine companies and more than 110 plans.

Elizabeth Colvin, the director of Insure Central Texas, says people need to log on and make sure their information is accurate.

"They need to update their application to reflect their income for 2015," Colvin says. "That’s very important to do."

That’s because a person’s income affects the amount that could potentially be offered in tax credits.

Not everyone will be automatically re-enrolled in a plan, but those who are can change their plan for 2015.

This enrollment period runs from Nov. 15 to Feb. 15, which is about half the length offered last time.
