Top Election Official Optimistic On Turnout

The Texas Primary is tomorrow.  Polls open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. for voting in the Democratic and Republican primaries.

Turnout is expected to be low, although Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade would like to see a good turnout Tuesday. For those planning on heading to the polls tomorrow, Andrade says make sure you know where you're going.

"We're asking all our Texas voters to look closely at their voter registration card to make sure that they're in the right precinct. As you know with redistricting there has been some confusion," Andrade said, "but if you have any questions you can always call your local election administrator."

The U.S. Department of Justice announced last week it will send monitors to Fort Bend, Harris and Jefferson Counties to quote, "…ensure compliance with the Voting Rights Act."

And it was the justice department that earlier this year knocked down the state's new Photo ID law for the primary. But if you don't bring your voter registration card you will need to bring one of several other approved documents to the poll. You can find a list of what you bring online at VoteTexas.gov.
