APD Searching for Missing Woman

Update at 3:30 pm: 81 year-old Leona Wagoner Owen has been found dead in South Austin.

Earlier: Austin police are asking for the public's help in finding 81 year-old Leona Wagoner Owen.  She was last seen Sunday January 2nd at about 1 p.m. in the 600 block of Carismatic Lane in South Austin.  Owen is 5 feet tall, 100 lbs with light brown hair and green eyes.  She was last seen wearing a stripped navy/white sweater with blue sweat pants.  Police say foul play is not suspected but they are worried about her because of medical issues.  Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1.

Kansas' Wyatt Coming to Texas

Darrell Wyatt, Kansas' co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach, is now wide receivers coach/co-recruiting coordinator for the Longhorns.  Head coach Mack Brown made the announcementyesterday.  That's the first of five coaching slots Brown has to fill after the Horns' losing season.  Here's what Brown had to say about Wyatt in a press release:

“He's not only one of the best wide receiver coaches in the country, but he also brings expertise as an offensive coordinator. Darrell's someone who has coached in the NFL and has been recognized as one of the nation’s top recruiters. He has extensive experience working in the Big 12 and recruiting in all parts of Texas. He is a great addition to our staff."  

Wyatt grew up in Texas and played high school football here.  Here's what he had to say about coming home:

“Texas is the type of place where the skies the limit on what you can accomplish. They have great resources, a tremendous fan base and compete for championships. The level of expectations are extremely high and that's something I definitely will embrace.”  

Hula Hut Cleaning Up after New Year's Fire

News 8 Austinreports staff at the Hula Hut restaurant on Lake Austin is starting the new year cleaning and rebuilding following Friday night's fire.  News 8 reports the fire started after embers from a nearby fireworks show hit the restaurant's thatched roof.  The damage was limited to the outside seating area, and for any of you wondering Hula Hut is still open for business.

The Science of Conversation
