School Board Meeting

The Austin Independent School District is meeting tonight. The Board will vote on whether or not to adopt the Facility Master Plan. KUT has reported extensively on the FMP Framework in the past. Other items on the agenda include  budgetary approval, a discussion of how the new statewide testing system (STARR) will be used to determine students' end of year grades, and some school facilities improvements.

KUT News recently spoke with Superintendent Carstarphen about the possibility of adding in-district charter schools. The Board will vote on whether or not to partner with IDEA Public Schools, a Texas charter school operator, on December 12.

Longhorns vs. Aggies - The End of an Era?

After losing to Kansas State, 17 - 13, in their final home game of the season, the Longhorns are looking ahead to this Thursday's game against Texas A&M. Because the Aggies are moving to the SEC, Thanksgiving's match up may be the last time this iconic rivalry is played out. The game, at College Station, will start at 7 p.m.

How Will TxDOT Improvements Effect Cyclists?

The City's Bike and Pedestrian Committee will meet today to talk about how TxDOT's plans to improve Loop 360 will affect cyclists and pedestrians. TxDOT is looking to improve traffic flow on 360 without widening lanes.

Holiday Trees

If you're feeling festive, you can head over to the Zilker Botanical Garden starting today to see their holiday tree display. The trees, decorated in different holiday themes, will be on display in the Greene Room. The exhibit runs through January 5th.
