Garrett Gilbert to Transfer

Garrett Gilbert has been released from his UT athletics scholarship. This leaves the former Longhorn starting quarter back free to transfer. Gilbert has not announced where he will go, but says he will finish this semester at UT while he makes his decision.

Some Bastrop Evacuees Return Home

Firefighters continue to work on the Old Potato Fire in Bastrop County. The fire is 50 percent contained and has burned 320 acres. All evacuees from Oak Hill Cemetery Road were allowed to return home Wednesday evening. Herron Road remains blocked off.

Occupy Austin

Occupy Austin, the local chapter of the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York, will meet today at 10 a.m. outside of City Hall. The group's website has events scheduledthroughout the day. More than 4,500 people have indicated they will attend the event on the group's Facebookpage.

City Council Votes Tomorrow on Moving Elections

Austin City Council will meet tomorrow afternoon to vote on a measureto move city elections to November. City Council elections are currently held in May. More of our coverage on this issue can be found here.
