Austin Police and Travis County Sheriff's SWAT teams are trying to arrest a barricaded man in South Austin. The activity has forced Bowie High School into a preventative lockdown.

UPDATE, 10:30 a.m.:  Police have taken their suspect into custody without incident on Brodie Lane. AISD is lifting the lockdown at Bowie High School.

EARLIER:  A South Austin high school was on lockdown this morning, as police try to arrest a person barricaded in a house on Brodie Lane. AISD confirms that Bowie High School is on precautionary lockdown after shots were fired in an area not far from the schools earlier this morning. AISD spokespeople had earlier told KUT News that Baranoff Elementary School was also on lockdown, but the school's principal said in an email to parents that it is not.

Capt. Wes Priddy with the Travis County Sheriff's Department tells KUT News that police fired on a burglary suspect, as he reportedly tried to run them over with a stolen car. At last report, Priddy says the person is barricaded inside a house in the 10200 block of Brodie Lane, just south of Slaughter Lane.
