Zell Miller III's 'Oh Snap, My Alien Children Are Trying to Kill Me'

Mar 2, 2016

Ten years ago, writer and performer Zell Miller III was inspired by his then six-year-old son to create the one-man show My Child, My Child, My Alien Child. Several years later, he created a sequel about his second child, titled Oh...Sh*t...It's a Girl! Now that son is 16 and that daughter is eight, and Zell's ready to complete the trilogy with Oh Snap, My Alien Children Are Trying to Kill Me.

When asked why he refers to his kids as aliens, Zell laughs and says "Because children are aliens! Because if you are a parent, you know that you're always tired and it's hard for you to remember things. It's because at night, your children are sneaking into your room with an invisible alien tube and they're sucking out your memory and they're sending it up to whatever little planet they're from and they're eating it on hexagon crackers."

This installment of the trilogy will still be about the kids, but will have more to say about Zell himself and his adventures in sharing his house with an "eight-year-old diva" and a "sixteen-year-old almost grown manchild." And then there's the small Morkie dog that his fiancée has added to the mix. "He's trying to kill me also," Zell says. "He's in league with the aliens. They call him 'brother.'"

While all three shows are about Zell's kids, neither of those kids have actually seen Zell perform them. "You know, there is profanity in the shows," he says. "But I think my son's going to come see this one. He's sixteen, so he's a little older. So it'll be interesting, his reaction."
